Manufacturing Controller

The Manufacturing Controller will lead the financial management and reporting activities across Evolved By Nature’s global manufacturing and supply chain operations, with a focus on cost accounting, inventory control, and operational performance analysis. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining strong financial processes, internal controls, and business partnerships with operations teams to support strategic initiatives and drive cost optimization.
A key part of this role will be evaluating cost of goods sold (COGS) and gross margin across various business units and products to support more informed decision-making. The Manufacturing Controller will also play a leadership role in the implementation of a new worldwide ERP system, ensuring consistent financial practices and system integration across regions. With an international manufacturing facility in Thailand, this position will help coordinate and align global operations from a financial and controls perspective.
The Manufacturing Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The role will collaborate closely with plant managers, operations teams, and cross-functional departments throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations related to manufacturing, including cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
- Develop and maintain standard cost models and analyze production costs to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Evaluate and report on cost of goods sold (COGS) and gross margin across various business units, products, and services to support strategic decision-making.
- Partner with operations leadership to analyze profitability by plant, product line, customer, and region.
- Collaborate with global teams, including those at a new manufacturing facility in Thailand, to ensure consistency in financial practices and operational reporting.
- Lead and coordinate the financial aspects of implementing a new worldwide ERP system, ensuring accurate data migration and improved financial visibility.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes for manufacturing-related accounts, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for manufacturing activities.
- Monitor capital expenditures and support ROI analysis for global manufacturing investments.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and lead physical and cycle inventory procedures.
- Support ongoing improvement initiatives in operations through financial analysis, modeling, and scenario planning.
- Collaborate with professionals supporting manufacturing and international locations.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant or MBA designation preferred
Additional Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
- International experience preferred, particularly in supporting or launching overseas manufacturing operations.
- Deep knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, gross margin analysis, and operational performance metrics.
- Strong experience implementing or optimizing ERP systems in a global manufacturing context (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Proven ability to partner with supply chain, engineering, and operations to drive cost improvement and decision support.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal control frameworks (SOX experience a plus).
- Demonstrated capability to drive process improvements, implement best practices, and ensure financial discipline in dynamic environments.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and financial modeling skills.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence across departments and geographies.
- Comfortable navigating a fast-paced, evolving business environment and balancing multiple priorities.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
