Field Engineer

ETCH is a startup commercializing a radically new and efficient decarbonization technology for the simultaneous greenhouse gas-free production of hydrogen and solid carbon from natural gas.
The Field Engineer position at ETCH, INC will operate and maintain systems, equipment and implement procedures used in the ETCH Process™. Primary duties are testing and monitoring of ETCH’s pilot reactor collecting and analyzing performance data, and assistance in assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of the pilot reactor.
Other duties include:
- Providing process improvement feedback and diagnosis of process bottlenecks
- Design and implementation of procedures and tests to improve reactor performance and reliability
- Planning, and installation of equipment, including manufacture of physical apparatus
- Establishing safe systems and procedures for individuals and groups working with potentially dangerous and combustible chemicals, particularly but not limited to natural gas, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, carbon powders and metal salts
- Evaluating processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
- Upkeep of regular usage logs and miscellaneous record keeping
- Flexible work schedule including the occasional third shift
Preferred qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Experience with programmable logic controllers and data acquisition systems
- Experience with tools, machinery, equipment construction, and/or chemical processing
An ability to work independently as well as in a team environment toward timely execution of goals is required.
