Senior Compensation Analyst

Position Summary:
The Compensation Analyst will research job requirements and evaluate and maintain, job positions to ensure the company is competitive in the areas of salaries and employee benefits.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assess jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
- Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
- Prepare and maintain job classifications and salary scales.
- Collect and compile HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS), competitors practices, and other sources.
- Prepare and present summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.
- Interview and survey employees and managers to gather and document job, organizational, and occupational information including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by each job.
- Gather data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
- Evaluate and implement job analysis instruments and materials.
- Research employee benefits in similar industries; based on findings, recommends changes or updates to the company’s existing benefits or policies.
- Plan and communicate preferred methods and best practices for compensating and evaluating employees.
- Prepare reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to senior leadership.
- Advise management on applicable state and federal employment regulations and compensation policies.
- Maintain HRIS job and compensation information.
- May conduct or assist with conducting classification audits to ensure that jobs are properly classified as exempt or nonexempt.
- May assist HR leadership with staffing, recruiting, and departmental budgets.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws involving employment, HR, and HR policies.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS, payroll, and similar employee management software.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field required.
- CCP, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- At least five years of experience as a compensation analyst required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
